Rainforest Animals Visit

Butterfly

Anna Maloney shows us the brilliant colors of the many butterflies found in the rainforest.

Second grade students ended their year strong with their most exciting unit of all… THE RAINFOREST!  Students compared life cycles of plants and animals specific to this ecosystem, studied the interdependance of these plants and animals, and learned to distinguish how our own actions or events related to the Earth’s environment may be harmful or hurtful.  The students transformed their hallways and the gymnasium portraying all the layers of the rainforest including each plant and animal found.  On May 16th these animal friends came to “visit” St. Anthony Catholic School to learn about our environment and teach the Eagles about their home!  The animals rapped and danced and taught us all more than we could ever want to know about their home and how to protect the planet Earth.
