Our 4th Annual Via Creativa Night proved to be a huge success!  This past week, talented Eagles delighted the audience throughout the evening at the St. Joseph Fine Arts Center.  Guests were welcomed into the Visual Arts Gallery with individually selected pieces students created throughout the year.   Once the performances began students proudly showcased their musical talents in singing, percussion instruments, piano, band, and strings.  Performances in dance, improvisation, and karate also delighted the crowds.  Congratulations to all of the Eagles who participated in the Via Creativa programs, the instructors, and Mrs. Glorioso who coordinates the Via Creativa program!

Cajun Fest

Don’t foget to bring your donations of good conditioned, clean household items, DVDs, books, etc. to the office in support of the upcoming Cajun Fest at St. Francis on Sunday, May 19.  As upperclassmen of the school, 5th and 6th graders should sign up for at least one service hour at the event in order to help mentor participants of the kids’ games.  In addition, adult volunteers are needed to assist with game supervision.  Students can earn service hours for NEXT or THIS year for volunteering at Cajun Fest.  For best selection of volunteer times, please contact at Michele Warnock (mhwarnock@bellsouth.net | 601.613.4653).  Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Papa John’s Pizza – Tuesday, May 14!

Although we “tested” a charitable dining out event last week, we still have our last Papa John’s Pizza Night still scheduled for Tuesday, May 14.  This will be the last evening this year to take the night off from cooking and treat your family to Papa John’s Pizza from the Ridgeland store while supporting the Student Council of St. Anthony.  When you order Papa John’s Pizza this Tuesday, the Student Council will receive 20% of all St. Anthony sales! Just remember to tell them that you are supporting St. Anthony Catholic School when you place your order – Papa John’s (601)853-1951.  By the way, if you have a profession that routinely supplies lunches for offices – this offer is good during the day as well!  The Student Council thanks you for your support!

“It Was Good!” – Creation Story

Not only was everything that God created “GOOD!”, but also was the PreK4 production of  “In the Beginning, A Children’s Creation Concert.” Family members and guests were delighted to see the works of God come into being.  From “light” to Adam and Eve, our preschoolers confidently sung and told the story of how our world was created.  Congratulations to our PreK4 students for a great stage debut!

Noah James has the "whole world in his hands"!

Miller Franklin sings with friends about letting your "light" shine!

Wilhem Engle and Iliana Blount join in singing "God made me" beginning with Adam and Eve!

Eagle Orientation

On Thursday, May 2, we will be welcoming our new Eagles to St. Anthony for their orientation.  Parents of new students will learn how St. Anthony works on a daily basis while their children have the opportunity to visit a classroom in which they will be enrolled next year.  Current students will have the opportunity to meet other students while practicing leadership skills in making each new Eagle feel welcomed and appreciated as a part of the Eagle Family.  Welcome new Eagles!

Eagle Scramble Success!

Blessed with sunny weather and wonderful comradery among players, the 5th Annual Eagle Scramble at Annandale Golf Club was a success!  Presented by Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, this year’s tournament boasted the addition of the Eagles’ Nest offering players additional refreshments and fun as they played the course.   Thank you to all who assisted, especially Co-Chairmen Michael Kimbrell and Dave Clements, in creating the success of the Eagle Scramble including sponsors, players, and volunteers.  We look forward to creating another great tournament next March!

Golfers had the opportunity to warm up on the driving range and the putting green prior to beginning the Eagle Scramble.

A special thank you to our title sponsor Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center! Fielding two teams this year, Jay O’Mara paused for a photo with some of his teammates during play.

Co-Chairmen Dave Clements and Michael Kimbrell were congratulated by Development Director Mamie Sheldrick for the tee-off of an outstanding tournament!

St. Anthony volunteers shared their hospitality with all of the golfers!  Pictured are Rinna Stovall, Kristi Sheehan, Bridgit Hlavac, Paige Harrison, and Kelli Phillips.  In addition, Jennifer Morrow, Angela Brunini, Elise Jones, Greg Gussio, Vicki Moorehead, Chrystal Praytor, Josie Roach, and Ann Beard helped to make all of our guests feel welcomed!

Members of Ray Hansen’s team stopped by the Eagles’ Nest, a new feature to this year’s tournament, before continuing their play.

Despite cooler temperatures, golfers enjoyed the afternoon on the course!

When visiting the Eagles’ Nest, golfers had the opportunity to answer triva questions or perform “physical” challenges for prizes. Pictured are Jason Walenta, Gene Loper, and Pat Scanlon in the midst of their challenge to see who could stand on one foot the longest!
