Decathlon Day!

Good times were had by all in the 3rd Annual Decathlon Day event at St. Anthony Catholic School.  Houses enjoyed spirited competition and more as they displayed their team’s athleticism in twelve different events.  With each victory Houses earned points, propelling them toward a possible win of the coveted House Cup!  Who will win the House Cup this year?  We will find out on Awards Day!

The "House of Volunteers" - without this House, Decathlon Day would not be possible. Throughout the day volunteers revolved around the various needs of the day, including those in this picture and others. Thank you for all who were involved in making the day special!

Praying for the safety of all of our competitors as we begin the games.

From Bucket Bullseye to Tug of War, members of Houses compete with all their might!

Car Wash – Saturday, May 19

The Destination Imagination teams will be hosting a car wash at the BankPlus on Strawberry Hill Road near the Highway 51 Kroger on Saturday, May 19, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  The car wash is complimentary to all, however, tips will be accepted for a job well done.  Students participating in Destination Imagination are working together to fully fund their expenses to attend Global Finals in Knoxville at the end of May.  Be sure to make plans to come have your car washed on Saturday, May 19, at the BankPlus near Kroger on Hwy 51 in Madison! (Please note – this car wash was originally scheduled for May 12; however, due to anticipated rain, the date has been moved to May 19.  Thank you for your support!)

Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil 2012

This year’s Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil reached new heights as live music, laughter, and seasoned seafood aromas filled the air.  A great time was had by all as we feasted and visited with one another.  As the year comes to an end, we recognize that St. Anthony’s success is built on the foundation of a quality education wrapped with loving arms of our volunteers whom support all of the functions throughout the year.  We offer each volunteer our appreciation and gratitude.  For more photos of the Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil, please visit our Facebook site.

Volunteers lend their talents in support our Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil! Pictured are some members of the cooking team, Jobe Maynor, Brian Roach, Paul Koury, and Kris Cole.

Leslie Toohey with daughter Laney join in the fun.

Mason Roach picks out his "favorite" crawfish.

Dave Clements, Michael Kimbrell, and Collier Simpson show their shucking talents as they peel their mud bugs!

Cajun Fest

Don’t forget to bring your donations of good conditioned, clean household items, DVD’s, books, etc. to the office in support of the upcoming Cajun Fest at St. Francis on Sunday, May 20.  As upperclassmen of the school, 5th and 6th graders should sign up for at least one service hour at the event in order to help mentor participants of the kids games.  In addition, volunteers are needed to donate cupcakes for one of the festival games.  For best selection on game volunteers or to sign up to bring cupcakes, please contact Josie Roach at jcndbon@aol.com, cell (601)506-9066 or Michele Warnock at michele@mcintoshandassoc.com, cell (601)613-4653.  Laissez les bons temps rouler!

“It Was Good!” – Creation Story

Not only was everything that God created “good,” but so was the PreK4 production of  “In the Beginning, A Children’s Creation Concert.”  Family members and guests were delighted to see the work of God come into being.  From “light” to Adam and Eve, our preschoolers confidently sung and told the story of how our world was created.  Congratulations to our PreK4 students for a great stage debut!

In the beginning, God created light. Pictured bringing light into the world is Anna Christopher Hemleben.

In the end, God created Adam and Eve, also known as Bryce Warriner and Elaina Price.

May Crowning

On Tuesday, May 1, we will celebrate an all-school Mass and the crowning of Mary.  Second graders, who will be celebrating First Communion with the school for the first time at this Mass, are invited to wear their first communion outfits.  All other students are invited to come to school in their Easter Sunday outfit for this special day.  Please remember to bring a flower on this day as we will have a procession to crown Mary at the beginning of Mass.

Eagle Orientation

On Wednesday, May 2, we will be welcoming our new Eagles to St. Anthony for their orientation.  Parents of new students will learn how St. Anthony works on a daily basis while their children have the opportunity to visit a classroom in which they will be enrolled next year.  Current students will have the opportunity to meet other students while practicing leadership skills in making each new Eagle feel welcomed and appreciated to be a part of the Eagle Family.
