Medications For Students

If you have registered an over-the-counter or Rx medication for your child, please make plans to pick up the medication personally from Mrs. Glorioso, R.N., by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 22.  No medications of any type will be released to children or sent home in backpacks.  If you choose, you may leave non-prescription medicine in our locked cabinet over the summer; if not expired, it may be used for the student again in the fall upon receiving a new 2012-2013 Medication Authorization form in the fall.

Car Wash – Saturday, May 19

The Destination Imagination teams will be hosting a car wash at the BankPlus on Strawberry Hill Road near the Highway 51 Kroger on Saturday, May 19, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  The car wash is complimentary to all, however, tips will be accepted for a job well done.  Students participating in Destination Imagination are working together to fully fund their expenses to attend Global Finals in Knoxville at the end of May.  Be sure to make plans to come have your car washed on Saturday, May 19, at the BankPlus near Kroger on Hwy 51 in Madison! (Please note – this car wash was originally scheduled for May 12; however, due to anticipated rain, the date has been moved to May 19.  Thank you for your support!)

Welcome New Staff Eagle!

As mentioned in previous Padua Press articles, Mrs. Kinshasa Watson will be leaving to place her full efforts on developing her new store, “Allow Me…”  Upon the announcement of this vacancy and request for resumes, St. Anthony was blessed with many qualified, enthusiastic, and passionate applicants.  We thank all whom applied and interviewed for the position.  Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Jennifer Morrow to the Development Office beginning in August!

Ending Our Year With God!

WOW!  The year will be coming to an end on Wednesday, May 23!  On this day, we will transport all of the children to St. Francis of Assisi for our final all school Mass honoring our departing 6th grade students.  Please make plans to attend the Mass with your child as dismissal will be directly from St. Francis following the Mass.  Remember there is no ACE on this day, so you must come to St. Francis for your child who will be dismissed directly from Mass.  Please refer to Edline for the carpool procedure for dismissal following the Mass at St. Francis.

Learning Is Fun At St. Anthony!

St. Anthony Catholic School is blessed with bright students who love to learn and master new things.  While initiative propels students to soar to their potential, a little motivation helps as well.  This week, as a reading incentive, students from first grade got to throw pies in Mrs. Brunini’s face while sixth graders displayed their athletic talents in the annual Newcomb tournament.  Congratulations to all of our students for achieving their goals!

Sixth graders squared off against the staff in the annual Newcomb tournament. Showing that they have mastered the skill and athleticism of Newcomb, sixth grade boys have "bragging rights" with their two-point victory over the staff.

Each first grade student who read 100+ books were given permission to throw a pie in Mrs. Brunini's face, just as Stephan DeLange did!

May Crowning Mass Honors Second Grade

Holy Communion

St. Anthony Catholic School honored our First Communicants and crowned the Blessed Mother Mary in our Annual All School May Crowning Mass.  Our second grade First Communion Candidates received Holy Communion for the first time at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Then just two days later, during this special Mass over 280 St. Anthony students processed into the Mass bringing flowers to give to Our Lord’s Mother to create a rainbow of color at her feet.

Students Take Learning on the Road

Friends

Fifth grade students partnered with their First grade buddies for a fun-filled day of exploration. Both groups had been studying rocks and minerals and taking care of our Earth. The day began where they saw the entire process of recycling and then explored the trails of petrified wood deposited over 38 million years ago. Students ended the day by rock fluming and finding lots of treasures to bring home.

Last Thursday many St. Anthony students ventured out to learn off campus!  All students in grades 1st – 6th headed outside the walls of this beautiful school taking various field trips including beyond the city limits to Vicksburg and even to New Orleans!  Our students reviewed their African & Rainforest unit by enjoying a private showing of Disney Nature’s Chimpanzee; became environmentalists at the MS Petrified Forest & Canton Recycling Center; got up close & personal with our state’s wonderful history at Vicksburg’s museums; and explored every habitat known to animals at the Audubon Institute & Aquarium of the America’s.  Students, teachers, and parents enjoyed putting their learning in action throughout our great land!

Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil 2012

This year’s Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil reached new heights as live music, laughter, and seasoned seafood aromas filled the air.  A great time was had by all as we feasted and visited with one another.  As the year comes to an end, we recognize that St. Anthony’s success is built on the foundation of a quality education wrapped with loving arms of our volunteers whom support all of the functions throughout the year.  We offer each volunteer our appreciation and gratitude.  For more photos of the Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil, please visit our Facebook site.

Volunteers lend their talents in support our Volunteer Appreciation Crawfish Boil! Pictured are some members of the cooking team, Jobe Maynor, Brian Roach, Paul Koury, and Kris Cole.
