Students in Mrs. Benson’s class get fired up about their economic project. Third grade students prepared for weeks to design and produce their own products to sell in their Third Grade Money Market last week. Students worked in groups that had to not only provide products that filled the wants of our second & fourth grade students but they also had to create needs. These other students had to determine and use the money they earned in class to purchase various wants and needs to meet standards in their curriculum. Third grade then determined profit margins, income and expenses, product demand, and discussed many various economic strategies. The students will use the money to give to a charity that the students choose based on what “company team” had the greatest profit margin. This company is banking on meeting the wants and needs of its consumer to be on top with their profit margin at the end of the Money Market.
